Running at Sunset...

The view at the end of my run today... This beautiful city has made it easy to find the motivation to train for the half marathon I am going to run in April! After almost 2 weeks of official training, I am feeling good and thanking my parents for raising me in Colorado--the altitude difference has definitely played in my favor. So far its been a great way to get to know the city, stretch out after sitting in my 3 hour intensive Spanish session, and burn off all the calories that Lola so lovingly forces me to eat.

Cadiz

Today we went on a day trip to Cadiz and even though it wasn't very sunny it was bonitísimo! I went to the top of the cathedral, ate a delicious pastry, saw the most adorable niños playing in the plaza, stepped foot on a Spanish beach for the first time this trip, used the panorama feature on my camera, and ATE A SEA URCHIN! (which I will never do again) Luckily Lola packed me the best and biggest picnic, which we all took part in eating as we sat along the coast admiring the view.

Hacer Kayak!

I've been a busy girl since my last post! Doing some local Sevillana things like going to one of Lola's friend's art exhibition--until 3am-- and some touristy things like kayaking on the Rio Guadalquivir! Clearly, as Colorado girls, Anna and I were ready to take on the river... We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful sunny day!

El Plaza de España

What a beautiful sunny day to visit the biggest, most beautiful plaza in all of Spain, the Plaza de España. It was built in the 1900's for the Ibero-American Exposition... These photos do not do it justice.

El Alcazar

The rest of this blog will be for sharing my best photos, so here are a few from the first main attraction we visited, El Alcazar (emphasis on the "th" sound made by the 'z')

Hola from Sevilla!

Lola. My sassy, fashionable, popular, loving,  lactose intolerant Spanish Mama (who loves her dogs more than anything else in the world). She inspired the title of my blog and has been the highlight of my study abroad experience so far, so naturally she has been blessed with the honor of being the subject of my first post! Me encanta a ella--even when she tells me to brush my hair...
